Harry Clarke (Irish, 1889-1931)
The Geneva Window, Bottom Right Panel, 1930
The Irish government commissioned great illustrator Harry Clarke to create a window for the League of Nations in Geneva. The window was to depict scenes from the works of 15 Irish writers. Clarke made some controversial choices - such as depicting scantily clad figures - and the government rejected the window. It was never installed in Geneva, and the window is currently in a museum in Florida.
